At current corona raised prices :
•80/20 Ground Beef $3.50/lb
•Ramen Noodles 6 packs $1.35
•Whole Milk gallon $2.70
3lbs of beef, 6 packs of ramen, and a gallon of milk comes out to $14.55.
You’re looking at 8000 calories total there.
It’s an illustration of when you cook for yourself, buying food from the grocery store, just how much you truly have.
This isn’t trying to eat as cheaply as possible either.
Not by a longshot.
Chicken and eggs are far less expensive than beef.
Eggs are about 10¢ each regardless of package size. I’ve seen less than 5¢ per in the last few years, but it’s still very affordable and in the normal price range.
Chicken is always inexpensive meat. Monetarily poor men wishing to eat well thrive on fatty cuts of chicken.
If I’m strict on myself financially I eat on $50 a week, aside from very rarely eating out I never cost more than $15 a day.
Even without kitchen access one can eat well.
A homeless man if determined can be well fed.
I’ve thought about this.
America is land of food abundance.
You just have to be creative.
It’s not gonna be hot meals, thermos becomes something of an important big ticket item, and you need a backpack and can opener.
Cans of chicken are $1 at Walmart.
Milk is bought by the gallon, drink half, store half in thermos.
15 packs of ramen easily fit in a backpack. They’re edible dry, like a crunchy sandwich.
Eggs and beef are fine raw. I’ll drink raw eggs. You could buy your eggs, go to a bathroom, crack, and down them. Probably with the milk.
Foreigners have led me to believe eggs are fine without refrigeration, even for a day outside the fridge having priorly been in the fridge.
Beef? I’m sure there’s a way to jerry rig cooking it partially (the best way) out of a backpack. Otherwise, it’s not dangerous…it’s fancy.
In middle school I remember we made little aluminum foil ovens in a box. West coast you can use the ground’s heat I’m sure as in Vegas the bottom of my feet would burn through the shoes, the asphalt was that hot.
I was the only non homeless on a bicycle today.
I’ve been thinking of really scaling back on food cost and calories aka cutting.
Combine those two things and that’s why my brain is at homeless diet.
I noticed that they all were coming/going to the liquor store. Some with cigarettes in mouth.
Everyone has their own priorities.
I don’t view jacked as being something difficult to attain.
The urge to lean out is twofold :
•against fear
•against hypocrisy
