On the 27th of last month I did two sets of 25 4 count jumping jacks during my lifting. The session had wind and work capacity take over my thoughts.
Jumping jacks are useful, they provide running like cardio. I expect they expend the chest and ribcage, while muscularly activating the shoulder girdle, and strengthening the calves, not to mention the ankle joint itself.
Wind, plus it accentuates the lifting pump.
The April Discipline :
50+ 4 count reps every day aka 100+ reps daily this month.
(Some workouts may allow the timed equivalent.)
I’ve heard of inmates having a challenge to complete 15:00 of jumping jacks no rest.
I may train for this, and I see huge use of using the jumping jack not only between sets of other exercises, but for shorter rounds 2:00 – 5:00.
I’d assume a 5:00 set is similar to running a hard mile wind wise, but I feel jumping jacks have more pro less con then distance running. I intend to do 5:00 sets regularly.
At 265 I don’t do enough cardio, and I’ve had diesel wind in the past.
Revitalizing myself by being more
militant with my training. The teenage years where my stamina was endless. I’m viewing work capacity with solid wind as mandatory.
Besides work capacity, cardio, high reps, high volume, all blended is where I’m my physical best.
Whether pf is open or not, I’m liking reps out doors. If it’s open I’ll likely do some training in the parking lot, using some machines and the showers after. If it’s closed I’m looking at calisthenic floor routines on asphalt and lifting in the yard.
I want to go 3 x 5:00 rounds on the jumping jack, and need to be doing more burpees.
I’m getting back to my roots of lots of reps, lots of volume, crazy work capacity, and serious wind. I’m even debating running miles again.
Full fledged military PT may soon be on the table.
April’s discipline I actually started on the 27th, as on 3/28 I did the reps again, deciding then to go over a month.
Jumping jacks – mandatory.
The rest by feel.
I may continue pressing in the yard at least every 10 days or so. It’s been beneficial.
