3/2/20 ~545pm 3/2/20 – 3:30 Wall Sit
This is a definite PR, the third time I’ve broken past a 3:00 wall sit.
The wall sit is a great movement. The more I push it, the more benefit I feel.
(The truths of the simplest of exercises.)
It seriously impresses me that some have held times past the minutes and into the hours on this, I’ve never met someone that can beat my time.
Work had been 8 hours, but physically easy. I’d done three supersets of pullovers on the tricep machine and chins (sets of 9, 7, 6 on chins, 9 being a PR at this size, and it having been something like 2½ years since I last did double digit reps), a bunch of cable lateral raises, a super high rep set on each of the good girl and bad girl machines, and since it was “pizza day” at pf stopped and ate (the customer had also supplied an iced coffee so there was caffeine in my system which explains the crazy sweat), then went back to cable lateral raises, then doing the wall sit which I just kept going, first thinking 90 seconds, 2:00, then starting to think 3:15, which by 2:30 or 2:45 I made up my mind to hit 3:30.
The craziest part is…3:30 wasn’t failure, it had only just started to get to the point of legs shaking substantially at 3:20 or 3:25.
I finished by meditating to silence, no Wes Watson audio, for about half an hour, and then doing my set of 46 mantra pushups and a set of 10 “double pump” what seems to be called burpees according to prison fitness youtube, but I’d call squat thrusts as it’s without the jump then an 11th rep for good measure.
I’m coming to like this style of “burpee”. No jump, and with an ab hit. Unlike burpees with the jump, this variation I’m willing to do.
The chin PR? After hours of ice chopping last week at work (Wednesday through Friday) I rested biceps over the weekend, the machine pullover on tricep machine the only “pull” work.
